Everything in nature is made of the five elements: earth, water, fire, air and space. These five elements constitute the essence of every living being. Each of the elements represent different properties and energy. They teach us how to live in harmony with nature, abiding by the cycles of the sun and moon on our Mother Earth, as a part of the infinite cosmos. Living life with this awareness leads us to a Holistic Life which is well rounded mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually, financially and socially.
Holistic living is a wholesome living which teaches us to enjoy the bountiful goodness of Mother Nature. We can lead a balanced and simplified life by consciously choosing natural and organic produce. Produce packed with nutrients, which is devoid of synthetic additives and chemicals assists in a healthier lifestyle.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda is one of the oldest holistic healing systems. It originated in India more than 3,000 years ago. The term Ayurveda is derived from the Sanskrit words Ayur (life) and Veda (science or knowledge). Therefore, Ayurveda translates to knowledge of life. Based on the understanding that disease is due to an imbalance in a person’s consciousness, Ayurveda encourages certain lifestyle interventions and natural therapies to regain a balance between the body, mind, spirit, and the environment. Ayurveda believes in the prevention of diseases by using food as medicine. An Ayurvedic treatment starts with an internal purification process, followed by a special holistic diet, herbal remedies, massage therapy, yoga, breathing and meditation. By integrating these practices along with nutrition, we can enjoy a meaningful and healthy life. A life where we consciously “live”.
Ayurveda is based on the concepts of universal interconnectedness. The body’s constitution (prakriti), and life forces (doshas) are the primary principles of Ayurvedic medicine. Herbs and other plants, including oils and common spices, are used extensively in Ayurvedic treatment. By incorporating them in our daily diet, we strengthen our system. Ayurveda can have positive effects when used as an alternative therapy or complementary therapy in combination with standard, conventional medical care.
